Martina Batič, born 1978, comes from Ajdovščina, Slovenia. After graduating at gymnasium in Vipava she entered to Academy of Music, department of Music Pedagogy. In year 2002 she graduated under supervision of prof. Marko Vatovec. As a student she was visiting courses for church music at Teology and went to several mastercourses for choral conducting in Slovenia and abroad (Timothy Brown, Andraž Hauptman, Guenther Theruring, Robert Ray...) as an active participant.

Between 1997 and 2001 she accompanied different choirs and soloists. In this time she won two awards as a piano accompanist (in 1998 in Chemnitz with Barbara Kozelj, competition for students of Music Pedagogy, Germany and in 2000 in Merano, Debut in Merano, Italy). At the same time she actively cooperated with different Slovenian choirs, led children choir “Vesela pomlad” from Opčine, and worked as an assistant to Stojan Kuret, conductor of the APZ Tone Tomšič.

In October 2001 she went to Academy of Music to München, Germany, where she graduated in class of prof. Michael Gläser in March 2004. She there finished her postgraduate studies in December 2005. In Summer of 2004 and 2006 she worked with Damijan Močnik as second conductor to Slovenian Project children choir, in February 2007 she conducted to Vancouver Chamber Choir at their National conductor’s symposium in Vancouver, led by Jon Washburn. In June 2007 she did rehearsals for Peter Dijkstra with Bavarian Radio chorus.

She also worked as a docent on different choral courses, master classes in Slovenia and abroad (Internationalles Choresminar Zell a.d. Pram). She teaches basics on choral conducting at choral school (JSKD, Slovenia), in June 2005 she was member of jury at choral competition organized by Salzburg Choirs in Salzburg, in April 2007 member of jury at International children festival Celje and in October 2007 a member of jury at choir competition Corovivo in Trieste, Italy...

In year 2006 she was invited as an active participant to Eric Ericson Masterclass in Lund, Sweden, where she worked with Eric Ericson and Andrew Parrot, choirs such as Eric Ercison chamber choir, Ars nova, and with Helsinborg orchestra. Since 2004 she is a choir director of a Slovene National Theater and Ballet Ljubljana, Slovenia.

In October 2006 Martina Batič won 1st prize at “Eric Ericson Award“ competition in Stockholm, Sweden.
